THE HEALING CONTAINER

Healing/therapeutic ceremony usually occurs in a container. Most Western practitioners talk about the boundaries of the therapeutic work. Therapeutic/healing boundaries usually are provided by an office or some other structure. When doing work of the type discussed in this book with Original People, it is imperative that the therapist/healer pay close attention to the container or the hermetic vessel, as it was called by our counterparts who practiced alchemy. The work requires an intuitive approach to the life-world, but intuition can be dangerous for both the patient and therapist if it is allowed to fly tangentially at will. Intuition must be balanced with knowledge and wisdom of the nature of illness and healing. Therefore, a metaphorical spiritual boundary must be put into place in order for the process to be contained and to allow patients space in which they can feel safe as their healing process emerges.  ~ Shane Eynon
