No one can build you the bridge on
which you, and only you, must cross the river of life. There may be countless
trails and bridges and demigods who would gladly carry you across; but only at
the price of pawning and forgoing yourself. There is one path in the world that
none can walk but you. Where does it lead? Don’t ask, walk! (Nietzsche)
The only thing we can truly bequeath to the next generation are Roots and Wings. I hope this blog inspires you to share yours.

internal ignorance
"The truth is, going against the internal stream of
ignorance is way more rebellious than trying to start some sort of
cultural revolution...The inner revolution will not be televised or sold
on the Internet. It must take place within one's own mind and
heart...Waking up is not a selfish pursuit of happiness, it is a
revolutionary stance, from the inside out, for the benefit of all beings
in existence." - Noah Levine8/02/2017

Our children
Mindful
"Try
to be mindful, and let things take their natural course. Then your mind will
become still in any surroundings, like a clear forest pool. All kinds of
wonderful, rare animals will come to drink at the pool, and you will clearly
see the nature of all things. You will see many strange and wonderful things
come and go, but you will be still.
This
is the happiness of the Buddha."

"When
you want to enter a different aspect of Life, you wait for the point at which
Particle becomes Wave. And just at that split second before the Particle
is gone and the Wave takes over, you enter between, and you become
Energy. At that point where the wave becomes Particle again, you enter
between and you re-become who you were or you make a different choice.
Which is also possible. I think it is that space which healing
occurs." -

Story
"It is all a
question of story. We are in trouble just now because we do not have a good
story. We are in between stories. The old story, the account of how the
world came to be and how we fit into it, is no longer effective. Yet we
have not yet learned the new story. Our traditional story of the Universe
sustained us for a long period of time. It shaped our emotional attitudes,
provided us with life purpose and energized action. It consecrated suffering
and integrated knowledge. We awoke in the morning and knew where we were. We
could answer the questions of our children. We could identify crime, punish
transgressors. Everything was taken care of because the story was there. It did
not necessarily make people good, nor did it take away the pains and stupidities
of life or make for unfailing warmth in human associations. It did provide a
context in which life could function in a meaningful manner." -Thomas

Kabir
"Between the conscious and unconscious, the mind has put up a swing; all earth creatures, even supernovas, sway between these two trees, and it never
winds down. Angels, animals, humans, insects by the million, also the
wheeling sun and moon; ages go by, and it goes on. Everything is
swinging: heaven, earth, water, fire, and the secret one is slowly
growing a body. Kabir saw this for fifteen seconds, and it made him a servant for life."

Listening
Listening is the oldest and perhaps the most powerful tool of
healing. It is often through the quality of our listening and not the
wisdom of our words that we are able to effect the most profound changes
in the people around us. When we listen, we offer with our attention an
opportunity for wholeness. Our listening creates sanctuary for the
homeless parts within the other person.

Thread
There's a thread you follow. It goes among things that change. But it doesn't change. People wonder about what you are pursuing. You have to explain about the thread. But it is hard for others to see. While you hold it you can't get lost. Tragedies happen; people get hurt or die; and you suffer and get old. Nothing you do can stop time's unfolding. You don't ever let go of the thread.

Rigpa
"The mind of clear light (rigpa) is also called "all-empty"
because it is beyond the entire scope of conceptual consciousness. Even while you are still seeming to be a sentient being and
despite the generation of a great many good and bad conceptions such as
manifest desire, hatred, and bewilderment, the diamond mind itself is
free from the pollutions of these defilements."

To Love
"To
love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used
to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To
seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify
what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never
power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And
never, never, to forget." - Arundhati Roy
