The only thing we can truly bequeath to the next generation are Roots and Wings. I hope this blog inspires you to share yours.

Two Truths
There are two kinds of truth: the truth that lights the way and the truth that warms the heart. The first of these is science,
and the second is art. Neither is independent of the other or more
important than the other. Without art science would be as useless as a
pair of high forceps in the hands of a plumber. Without science art
would become a crude mess of folklore and emotional quackery. The truth
of art keeps science from becoming inhuman, and the truth of science
keeps art from becoming ridiculous." Raymond Chandler

Personal essay
In Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes says, "Any truth is better than infinite
doubt." This week, take a moment to reflect on what have become your
personal truths, based on your own investigation and experience.
Perhaps, as Christopher McCandless did in the Alaskan wilderness, you've
discovered that "happiness is only real when shared." Explore what you
stand for, what you value, and how you measure your life experiences.
Then express these thoughts in a personal essay.

Four Recognitions
1) Impermanence: Every experience is transcient and ever changing
2)
Dissatisfaction: To the degree that you try to hold to or grasp any
changing experience, you will experience suffering. This is like
psychic rope burn.
3)
Selflessness: Upon careful examination, every experience, and every
experiencer, dissolves. It is impossible to find any enduring separate
self in this ceaseless flow of energy-information that weaves an endless
field of interdependencies.
4)
You will begin to glimpse a dimension of mind that is empty, clear, and
unimpeded like the sky. This quality of boundless, clear awareness is
the true home and essence of mindfulness."

Within each of us
"Within each of us, in the ground of our being, powers reside for the healing of our world. These powers do not arise from any ideology, access to the occult, or passion for social activism. They are inevitable powers.
Because we are part of the
web of life, we can draw on the strength--and the pain--of every
creature. This interconnection constitutes our "deep ecology": it is the
source of our pain for the world as well.
(Joanna Macy)

The Source is Full
Everything
you
see has its roots in the unseen world. The
forms may change yet the essence remains the same. Every
wondrous
sight will vanish, every sweet word will fade. But
do not be disheartened, the Source they come from is eternal, growing,
branching out, giving new life and joy. Why
do you weep? That source is within you, and
this whole world is springing from it. The S
do
not grieve, drink your fill. The
endless ocean will never run dry! - Rumi
